I do not want to go to the chiro for the rest of my life, and as it stands right now, I’d have to go at least twice a week in order for my pain to be minimized in those areas. I’ve had problems with these areas since High School and I’m now in my 30′s. Is surgery worth it to correct the lower back problems? I am sick of the pain and do not want to be on pain meds – all I take now is Motrin.
I am not looking for wise ass answers. This is such a huge problem, and I want to really know if there are people out there who have had the surgery, and if it has helped or made the problem worse.

As a Doctor of Orthopedic Surgery, (just like, at least, seventy-five percent of the rest of Yahoo responders), I’d recommend removing all of your spinal column to avoid future problems.

I had to have a disc removed 5yrs. ago as I was in so much pain. I know it’s not the same thing but similar. I am 42yrs. The pain is nothing like it was I could hardly walk, but I still get a lot of pain. I take Taramadol which is quite good but I can’t say I ever have a pain free day. All in all I would say have the surgery it will help. I think once a bad back always a bad back. Good luck.
