I had a laminectomy done on my L4-L5 lumbar 9 weeks ago. At about the third week the leg pain returned. I have throbbing pain in my upper buttocks which runs down my leg. The pain is very uncomfortable and annoying. If I lay down in bed for too long the pain gets worse. When walking, if I take too large of a stride I feel a pull on the nerve. Will this eventually go away once my back heals? When I am laying down I can feel my back throbbing so I know there is definitely still some swelling. Before the surgery the pain was the worst when I stood up or sat down. This was mainly from spinal stenosis. Now I dont feel that same pain so there is some improvement. I am hoping that mobility will get back and the sciatica will go away once my back heals. How long should I expect for it is healed? My doctor sent me in for an epidural but that did nothing and pain meds arent helping. Does anyone know whats going on? I am having trouble getting answers from the “professionals.”

I have awful sciatica with my pregnancy. I also had it with my first pregnancy and it did go away after delivery. However this time it came on a lot earlier and has been much more severe. I am so worried that my sciatic nerve has been so irritated with both my pregnancies that it will not go “back to normal.” does that ever happen? Or will the sciatica for sure go away…gosh I hope so.
Low back pain after surgery?

I had a herniated disk at L4-5 last summer, and surgery in Feb. I’ve been making slow steady improvement, but the last month the pain has gotten so bad again that it wakes me up during the night. It hurts so much that I can barely turn over or get up. Is this typical for others with the same condition? I was told I also have a bulging disc at L3-4 and a smaller one at L5-S1. Unless I get sciatica again, I’m to assume that these discs have not herniated.
For the person who responded with Decompression, can you tell me the difference?
