MAJOR sciatica pain help?

My dad has a majorly degenerated disc between l4-5 I think he said and what little is left of the disc is herniated. He also has several other bulges I think he said. MRI showed almost bone on bone that was crushing the nerve I believe he said in l4-5. Before MRI he’s tried chriopractics and didn’t get any relief. Physical therapy helped for alittle bit then it got worse. He recently had epidural shots in some of the discs and said it numbed it for a few hours then it came back on worse. He’s fine when he sits or lays down but soon after getting up he has all the symptoms of sciatica. Exploding feeling of needles in his foot, major cramping, simply debilitating pain. What other options can he try. He really is nervous about surgery but it may come to that. Thanks,

Dan

Crippling back pain, think sciatica. Can hardly move. Any tips to help?

So im 32 weeks today with my second. With my first i never had any paisn or anything, its like being pregnant for the first time all over again because its so different to my first.

Anyway up until now i have always had some minor back pains and discomfort, just the usual stuff. Midwife said if i get it in the very lower back and bum then its sciatica and sometimes into the back of my thigh.

Anyway today, well this afternoon (its 4.50pm) i am having trouble moving. Its sore even just sitting down and the only relief i get is if i lye down, but i have things that im meant to be doing, washing, getting dinner ready, vacuuming etc. When i stand up and walk it is intense pain, the first time it happened i almost collapsed, my fiance had to catch me so i didnt fall down. However he is at work now so im by myself. Also the pain doesnt ease up after struggling to walk a few steps and its only when i put weight on my left leg.

Im getting the pain on my left side only, in the middle of my left bum cheek, very lower back on the left side and the back of my left thigh. So i think its sciatica. Are there any tips anyone has on how to relieve this? Its super painful and i struggle to move, im almost thinking about crawling around!!

Back pain / sciatica … herniated disc? Help!?

I had an accident in april 2009 and dislocated my left knee. I was receiving physiotherapy and became aware of a pain that went from my buttock all the way to the back of my right leg. My physiotherapist said i may have trapped a nerve as my body over compensated so much. However since then it has become increasingly worse. I have pain on n off in my lower back, in my bum, back of leg, below the right knee (which is excruciating), i get cramp and pins and needles in my right foot and i also have flank pain ( this is all down the right side of my leg/body, i have no pain like this on my left side). My doctor keeps giving me anti inflammatory tablets and kinda just fobbing me off. Im only 22 and im wondering if this accident could have caused this and if it is a trapped nerve or herniated disc, why there seems to be nothing they can do? The pain in my lower back isn’t always constant which makes me wonder if it is a herniated disc. I just don’t want to have to live with this forever so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
Thank you for your quick responses .. I will defo try those exercises out and pray that they work. I have been to an osteopath who after about 6 treatments said i needed an MRI as he couldn’t seem to pin point the problem but i would need to be reffered by my doctor or go private and there is no way i could afford to have it done private. I will try with the exercises and hopefully experience some relief =)
